Using raw foods to connect to your inner self

Happiness is your Birth Right

“Happiness is your birth right”

These were the closing words from Mumtaz Hussain on Redshift Radio’s Health and Well being show last Friday.

I had joined Mumtaz in the studio at 2pm for her show. I had of course heard the show before and knew how  inspiring Mumtaz and the show were, or I wouldn’t have gone to the studio, but I wasn’t prepared for such an amazing 2 hours.

But I guess that is the thing with conversations, you just never know where they are going to take you…

We started the show by talking about raw foods, why I love raw foods and how easy it is to incorporate them into your daily life. I even shared my favourite green smoothie recipe, although I do have to add that the very phrase ‘green smoothie’ was meet with an initial look of horror ha ha

However the conversation quickly turned to inspiration and a connection to source.

There were several other guests who joined the phone by telephone and there was definitely a theme of Stepping Up and following your heart, even in the face of adversity or criticism from others.

The one thing that was agreed by all guests was that often people know what they want to do, they know what they feel called to do, but that it’s not easy to do this and often put it off until tomorrow.

It can be hard to step out or up, to stand strong and declare all that you believe to be true. It can be hard to stay true to your core beliefs. It can actually be harder still to find these core beliefs.

Our every day choices will either make it easier for us to tap into our deepest sense of self and live a life of authenticity, however these same choices can move us further away from these aspects and we can distract ourselves with drama.

The four ways that I think we can support or distract ourselves are through our:

  1. Expression
  2. Environment
  3. Food
  4. Friendships

So whilst many of you know me for my work with food, those of you who I work with on a 121 basis know that the work I do is based on supporting you to step up and SHINE as the amazing person that you were born to be….. The Law of Nature

The Law of Nature

I have only recently come across this quote and love it because it reaffirms that we are all connected, we are not seperate from each other or the world around us. Our actions have consequences and we can decide if these consequences have a positive outcome on ourselves and everything around us or not…

‘As the smallest drop of water detached from the ocean contains all the qualities of the ocean, so man, detached in consciousness from the Infinite, contains within him its likeness; and as the drop of water must, by the law of its nature, ultimately find its way back to the ocean and lose itself in its silent depths, so must man, by the unfailing law of his nature, at last return to his source, and lose himself in the great ocean of the Infinite.’

My Journey with Raw Food and how it Revealed My Truth

Many people who are attracted to a raw food lifestyle come because they have an ailment or want to lose weight.

Do you know what you want?

Whilst there is no doubt that my health has improved and I have lost a considerable about of weight the true reason I eat raw food is because I find that it really connects me to my true self.

Throughout my life I had tended to drift from place to place and through a variety of jobs. Although I have always been happy I always knew that something was missing. As soon as I started to eat raw foods that ‘something’ became apparent.

When I started to eat raw food, all barriers and false ideas began to be removed and my true dreams and desires were revealed.

This hasn’t always been easy, there are some emotions and events that would be easier left buried or that I used as a security blanket to hide behind. However, raw really does encourage you to step up and face these false ideas so that you can live in alignment and truly Shine in  the world.

What will inspire you today?

What will you breathe in today?

Inspiration comes from the latin ‘inspirare’ = to breathe in

This weekend just gone I have spent an amazing weekend surrounded by inspiring people at Karen Knowler’s ‘Weekend in the Raw’ Event. It is easy to under-estimate how important it is to connect with like-minded people, to share stories and learn from each other.

During this event there was much inspiration, we heard from amazing speakers such as Philip McCluskey who lost over 125lbs and transformed his whole life and outlook and now helps other to do  the same. There was the delicious Claire Maguire who really is the ultimate Raw Bombshell, she shared her story and her mission to help women to rediscover and connect to their inner beauty to help you walk tall with confidence, elegance and grace – and who better to do this?

Of course Karen Knowler was there to motivate and inspire people to get ready for a super-healthy and vibrantly alive 2011.

If this wasn’t enough Nina Dench was on hand to make her delicious raw food creations that are so simple and so delicious it would get even the most reluctant person in the kitchen inspired.

As we surround ourselves with inspiration – whether it be in person, with the people we choose to surround ourselves with, or with the books we read and the activities we take part in, we breathe them into us. As we breathe this in, it has the ability to open our heart and connect us to that deeper sense of ourselves.

As we breath in that which inspires us it becomes part of us and helps us create and move towards the life that we dream of.

What inspiration will you breathe in today?

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover” – Mark Twain

Imagine what we could do, create and achieve if we all believed…

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most… It’s not just in some of us; it’s in all of us.

And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
