At the beginning of the year many people have plans to lose weight or complete a detox, especially after the indulgence of  the festive season, however without the right support and vision in place many people struggle.

So today I have a very tasty coaching challenge for you. It will help you get back on track and add some sparkle to your diet and some Shine to your life! And let’s face it, who couldn’t do with more of that?

The Green Smoothie Challenge
Smoothies are a tasty way to get more fresh fruits and vegetables in to your diet.

When the fruits and vegetables are blended they become easy for your body to digest and for the nutrients to be absorbed. They differ from juices in that the fibre remains part of the smoothie.

Green is the key for a cleansing and rebalancing smoothie as Green vegetables, especially green leafy vegetables, contain lots of chlorophyll which is incredibly effective in cleansing and balancing our bodies. Chlorophyll can help make our bodies strong, detoxify the liver and can purify and help to rebuild our blood cells.

The challenge:

To take the Green Smoothie challenge you have three options:

  1. If you were curious – Replace one meal with a delicious Green Smoothie
  2. If you were serious – Consume nothing but Green Smoothies for an entire day
  3. If you were on a mission – Follow a cleansing program that incorporates Green Smoothies
By simplifying your diet you allow your body the chance to start to clear away any unwanted debris and use it’s energy for things other than digestion; when you allow your body this chance to rest the most extraordinary things can occur…

You also create the space to inspire your passion and get in touch with the truth of who you are. When I first embraced the concept of raw food, which includes green smoothies, it really allowed me to create a deeper understanding of who I was, as it removed distractions and supported me to connect to my true purpose and passion – and because of my own experience I’m confident the same can be true for you!!

Pear and Watercress Soup

Here’s another simple and very tasty way to increase your intake of greens. In fact this is my favourite soup recipe.  To make this delicious soup, you will need: 

Ingredients for Pear and Watercress Soup

 Ingredients
2 cups of watercress
1 Pear
1 cup of water – depending on desired consistency

Equipment
Blender 

 Place all fresh ingredients in the blender and blend…
 
Helps to know
If you want a more creamy consistency add 1/2 an avocado or a small amount of cold pressed oil.
You can change the flavour by either adding a few nuts – walnuts work well or add a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg. 

Pear and Watercress Soup

 Juicy Tip
If you fancy a warm soup there are three ways to heat the soup without cooking: 

  1.  Use warm water in the recipe
  2. Serve in a warm bowl -I find that  just by wrapping my hands around a warm bowl instantly makes me feel warmer
  3. If you have a high speed blender, such as a vita mix, you can leave it running on high for several minutes.

Raw Food Recipe: Smoothie – A Taste of Sunshine

This smoothie recipe is deliciously creamy and perfect when you need to add some sunshine to your day!

Ingredients for Sunshine Smoothie

Ingredients
2 bananas
2 peaches
1 papaya
1 passion fruit

Equipment
Blender

Directions
Place the ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth

Helps to know
If you want a sweeter smoothie the addition of some pineapple is gorgeous and adds more Shine

Don’t forget you can always add some greens to this recipe for more sparkle in your smoothie

Raw Food Recipe: Green Smoothie – Apricot and Blueberry

Ingredients for Apricot and Blueberry Smoothie

This green smoothie recipe in super rich in antioxidants and other vital nutrients and best of all, it tastes delicious!

Ingredients
2 bananas
1 cup of blueberries
4 apricots (stoned)
1 cup of peas shoots

Equipment
Blender

Directions
Place the ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth

Helps to know
Experiment with the greens that you use in your green smoothies, it helps you to ensure that you make the most of getting all the nutrients you need

The Juicy Tip
If you don’t have access to succulent pea shoots, replace with baby spinach for another delicious green smoothie

Raw Food Recipe: Smoothie – Blue Banana Green Smoothie

This recipe is really quick to make and is bursting with delicious green goodness. 

Perfect at any time of the day – especially good if you’re in the mood for something fruity.

Ingredients for Blue Banana Green Smoothie

I love green smoothies and recommend that you have at least one a day.

Ingredients 
2 bananas
1 cup of blueberries – fresh or frozen
1/2 – 1 cup of curly kale
Handful of parsley
1/2 cup of water – or enough for desired consistency

Equipment
Blender 

Put all ingredients in  the belnder and blend until smooth.   

Helps to know
For a richer, thicker and creamier taste use frozen bananas in the recipe.

Green Smoothie

Strawberry and Spinach Green Smoothie

This is a really quick recipe that tastes so delicious that you won’t believe that it is full of goodness.

Perfect for breakfast or for a snack to satisfy any hunger.

 Ingredients
1 banana
1 cup of strawberries
2 handfuls of spinach – or to taste
1 cup of water – or for desired consistency

Equipment
Blender

Place all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth.

Helps to know
Add more water if the consistency is too thick or additional banana if not thick enough.

Juicy Tip
For a more creamy consistency try using frozen banana – don’t forget to peel them before placing them in the freezer – I made this mistake once and couldn’t get the peel off  ha ha!
