How to get the best out of eating at a restaurant on a raw foods diet

Everyone loves to eat out. It provides the opportunity to catch up with friends, to have some special time with your loved one and of course you can enjoy someone else preparing the food and doing the dishes.

However when you are on a raw foods diet, you may think eating out is a challenge.

Here are my top tips to deal with eating at a restaurant:  

  • Book the restaurant in advance, this way you can research the menu and decide what you are going to have to eat. This will take away the stress of wondering if there is anything on the menu.
  •  If there is not a specific meal on the menu, read what ingredients the menu has and see if you can adapt it - for example they may have a salmon salad on the menu and another dish with guacamole, you could ask the chef if you could have an avocado salad. 
  • Before you leave for the restaurant have a piece of fruit or a green smoothie. This may seem counter intuitive but if you arrive at the restaurant hungry you are more likely to make unsupportive food choices. 
  • If you don’t manage to eat as you had wanted to, accept it and make different choices at your next meal. 
  • Most importantly enjoy your experience!
