Using raw foods to connect to your inner self

Day 17 – Turn Your Shine On

“Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresea, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.” – Life’s Little Instruction Book, compiled by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Does Your Kitchen Fill You With Joy or Dread?

When I first left home, my idea of cooking was toast.

I had a read aversion to cooking, it seemed like a waste of time and I felt like I had better things to do.

As the years went by I knew that I needed to change this mindset.

I am a natural creative – I love to create! So all I had to do was change my way of thinking about cooking. I had to stop seeing it as a chore and realise it was a fabulous excuse to get creative and do you know what it worked! I now love being in the kitchen and experimenting with food combinations, flavours and textures and even recreating raw versions of my favourite cooked dishes.

If I’m honest I also love my kitchen because it’s full of cool gadgets and I love playing with gadgets!

My favourite gadget of the moment is my lemon squeezer – nothing exciting but it’s pretty (It’s bright yellow) and fun to play with – although if I’m too enthusiastic with it, it does squirt me in the eye…

I have created my kitchen to suit me, everything is on hand, it’s full of life – often with wheatgrass and sprouts growing on the side, and I also have a stereo in there so I can have a dance and a wiggle as I get creative.

In short I love being in my kitchen; it fills me with joy.

Can you say the same about your kitchen?

Does your heart lift when you walk into your kitchen or are you greeted with clutter and last night’s dishes?

What changes could you make so that your kitchen is a place that you want to spend time in?

Is your kitchen equipment on hand, or is it hiding in the back of the cupboards?

Are your cupboards full or useful items or are the full of clutter and stuff you might use?

Do the cupboard doors close properly and the draws slide open with ease?

Is your kitchen fresh and clean?

What would make your kitchen more appealing?

Would you like fresh cut flowers or herbs growing on your window cills?

Does your kitchen need a fresh coat of paint or a facelift?

Would you like some music playing whilst you get creative?

Do you need to wash or buy new curtains?
